Connecting Intermittent Fasting to Weight Loss and Fatigue
Intermittent Fasting:
Intermittent fasting has absolutely changed my life. I feel less fatigued, more focused, happier and my workouts are better. Across the board it has been the single most impactful thing I have done in my health routine this year. I wanted to share some thoughts on what it is, how you can start and what it might mean for your general health and happiness.
Get Started with Intermittent Fasting:
One thing I want to point out is that getting started is EASY! Below are three simple steps that can get you rolling. You should try these for 2-3 weeks and see how you feel. If you are anything like me, you will never go back to ‘three square meals’ a day!
- 12 Hours – You probably sleep between 6-10 hours a night, so getting to 12 hours is easy. If you sleep 8 hours, start your fast 2 hours before bed and wait at least 2 hours after waking up before you eat anything.
- Add 1 Hour a Week – It can be daunting thinking about not eating for 20 hours in a day! So start with 12 hours and add 1 hour a week to your daily fast within 2 months you will be almost to 20 hours!
- Listen to Your Body – Everyday is different for us all. There are times I can go 27+ hours on a fast and not even think about it…. other days I NEED to eat. Be smart, listen to your body and take care of yourself… healthcare is selfcare.
It is also important to note:
- Drink Water – you can drink water, coffee and tea. Don’t add sugar (!!) but you can add a little almond milk to your liking.
- Under 50 Calories – many of the professionals I talk to say your body does not recognize caloric intake under 50 k/cal. So… If you are starved but committed to that days fast, you can absolutely have a few almonds or something healthy and small… You cant eat under 50 k/cal 10x during your fast, but once would be fine.
- Broth – A vegetable broth or bone broth (if you eat meat) is an excellent, virtually caloric free way of satiating your hunger during longer fasts or when you are adding hours to your fasting period.

Hey guys, so beautiful Friday here out on the east coast of the United States. we’ve got a little turbulent water and a crazy pug, but I wanted to just bring up something that has been coming up over and over again in my universe especially this past week or so from other people which is intermittent fasting. Now some of you guys might be familiar with this term for some of you it might not mean anything. I can tell you that personally I’ve been experimenting with intermittent fasting for about three months and the results have been incredible. Beyond taking Curos Essential twice daily, I want to push myself to be as healthy as possible using all available channels.
Intermittent Fasting
So, quickly what is intermittent fasting? Intermittent fasting is essentially limiting the amount of time in a day that you eat to just a few hours. So, instead of snacking throughout the day, instead of having three square meals a day what we’re trying to do is we’re trying to limit and compress the amount of time that our body is actually taking in food, creating insulin and ultimately going through the taxing process of breaking that food down.
Some of the incredible things and research that are coming out about intermittent fasting is kind of everywhere, right? You’re hearing guys like Tim Ferriss and Joe Rogan talked about it and I do believe that in the very near future probably weeks or months but definitely years, sorry just checking it on the pug, definitely years this is going to become a very mainstream concept. Some of the benefits of intermittent fasting directly correlate to your body producing insulin, so when we eat and we take in product our body creates insulin to help us break that product down and what we try to do when we ‘re intermittent fasting is limit the time that our body is doing that and give our body more time to recover in between eating.
So, what this can help us do is it actually can help with weight loss which is something that we’re seeing. We’re also seeing that research at least is showing us that it also helps with sustained energy, so it’s giving you more energy throughout the day, more consistent energy throughout the day. Also, incredible results about, excuse me, pairing intermittent fasting with the ketogenic diet, we’ll talk a little bit about ketogenic, well you guys probably hear me talk about it a lot anyways, and you can effectively accomplish that not just by going full ketogenic but also by going with something like a modified Atkins diet which there’s a lot of research now happening around diabetes and pairing intermittent fasting with a modified Atkins or ketogenic diet.
For me personally what I’ve experienced with ketogenic diet, sorry, with intermittent fasting is I definitely feel more energy right and a big reason for that is because my body as I’m in a state of fasting, my body is using actually fat to produce energy and not glucose and this is a process called ketosis, right, which the ketogenic diet is based on.
So, I feel more energy my workouts actually have been better I definitely noticed that there’s times where I get hungry, you know, and I want to eat something so I’m not as stringent as I was but generally speaking I stopped eating around 9:30 or 10:00 at night and then I won ‘t start again until 2 or 3 p.m. the next day. I drink water if I get really hungry I ‘ll have a coffee with some almond milk. You can even use things like vegetable broth and bone broth to help kind of satiate that hunger, but definitely try it and a good trick to trying it is you can start with like 12 hours a day it’s pretty easy, right? like you sleep eight hours, you probably don’t eat an hour before you go to bed and then you just tack on a few more and you’re already there and then as you go through the weeks you can just add an hour and another hour until ultimately you get up to, you know, a good intermittent fasting period which could be anywhere between 16 and 20 hours a day.
So, definitely try it I’d be very curious for any of you guys that have already tried it or doing it now let me know, like how do you feel, what are the results? and hopefully we’ll have more to share on this soon but all in all I could say the progress has been very good and hopefully you’ll notice a lot of benefit from it like I have. So, we’ll share more in a minute I ‘m going to go enjoy the rest of this beautiful day with the little pug who ‘s running around by my feet somewhere and I’ll talk to you guys soon.
