Gut Dysbiosis aka Gut Microbial Imbalance

Curos Health Medical Team May 3, 2021

Gut dysbiosis or gut microbial imbalance comes in 3 main patterns: Insufficiency, Inflammatory and Digestive Dysfunction. You can have any one of these or a combination of all 3.

Insufficiency dysbiosis is when you don’t have enough “good guys” or beneficial bacteria in your gut (ex: Lactobacillus, Bifidobacter, S boulardii, Akkermansia, F. prusnitzi, etc)

Inflammatory dysbiosis is when you have an overgrowth of “bad guys” in your gut (ez: frank pathogens like Salmonella, Shigella, Giardia, etc or opportunists, H. pylori, Morganella, Pseudomonas, etc)

Digestive dysfunction dysbiosis occurs when your aren’t producing enough digestive enzymes which leads to undigested food for overgrowth (ex: bile, amylase, hcl, elastase, proteases, etc)

On a GI Map we get information on all of these factors which lets us decide a unique and specifically tailored digestive wellness plan for each individual patient. If you would like to work with us to assess and improve your digestive health schedule your free consultation.
