Should You Take a Break From Your Supplements?

Curos Health Medical Team May 3, 2021

FOR VITAMINS AND MINERALS

Generally these are needed to supplement dietary deficiencies for proper functioning so usually the answer is no.

FOR NUTRACEUTICALS, NOOTROPICS, HERBS AND HOMEOPATHY

With nutraceuticals, nootropics, herbs and homeopathy taking a break can give the body a needed reset that will make them more effective once you start up again. So the answer is… most likely yes.

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?

Tachyphylaxis is the process by which repeated doses of a medication make it less effective over time. Taking a break can re-set the body and our cellular receptors so that when we start up again the effect is heightened once again.

For vitamins and minerals this usually isn’t the case since we require them for daily functioning. For nutraceuticals, nootropics, herbs and homeopathy though taking a break can give our receptors a re-set so they function better once we start up again.

Warning-never stop a medication or supplement without consulting your doctor first. I am not your doctor (unless I am🤗) so please take this as informational and educational only.

Check out @willthewallace latest post on Tachyphylaxis. It’s really great.
